what should Keegan do to bolster our defence and strengthen the midfield inorder not to runned over like the last time out.

I read alot of comments on this around the place and thought I would just put something down here.

Firstly, we need more defenders. At the moment the quality isn't there and neither is the depth. Taylor should become solid and Cacapa and Beye go OK, but there's not too much else. Some capable wide backs who can run would be nice.

I think the defensive problems start in midfield. We have pleanty of good wide players (Milner, Duff, Geremi, N'Zogbia) but not much in the centre. Butt goes alright but I'm not sold on Barton and don't get started on Smith. We need a presence in the middle to create some plays. Pablo Aimar anyone?

To boost up our defence we need a good solid and balanced centre back and lot of improvements on the wide areas. In our case if the team is consistent the defence is solid but if the team fails the defence also fails. This is the main problem at Newcastle. If we defend well we are gonna win games on the trot. Defence is most important. Until we concede goals we do not lose games. If the defence is good for us a top 5 finish is possible in the league. If the defence is good and we are not getting results then we must blame the strikers. As for now the strikers are good and they give goals. On the midfield side, we need a good playmaker who can serve as an anchorman to the attack. We have good wingers but is a good centre midfielder playmaker that we need. Keep on your thoughts.....

I think most everyone hit this one right,,, the wings are ok, but a good solid center mid who makes good, smart passes is needed. The defense is lacking right now because for some silly reason we want to play Edgar and Nzogbia,,,when Bassong and Cacapa or Beye should be playing instead. I understand there trying to use Nzogbia to push forward but. If he keeps getting beaten as badly as he did last week, what's the fucking point! SOLID back four we keep saying it but nobody listens.
